A Saturday on the South Shore

So many of the greatest adventures I have had in Nova Scotia over the past year have been with this guy, and they just keep on coming! Last week we went on a wonderful trip to the South Shore, and spent some time in New Ross, Lunenburg, and Mahone Bay, as well as Hirtle's Beach and Gaff Point.

We started off with a sunny breakfast at Vittles in New Ross, which is an absolute gem. Then we headed down through Mahone Bay and Lunenburg to Hirtle's Beach and Gaff Point. Neither of us had been on Gaff Point Trail before, and I am so glad we went. It is just a short hike around the point, and pretty easy. It would be a great walk to do with friends or even a family on a day trip to the South Shore, and there were beautiful spots that would have been great for a picnic if you wanted to do such a thing as well. Later, we lunched in Lunenburg at the Salt Shaker Deli, which was delicious, and explored Old Lunenburg for a little while before nipping back to the Valley just in time for supper.
