Canoeing at Keji

Looking back at this summer, it's hard to believe how many wonderful adventures we had, and how many great things we got up to. A number of them have not even made it here, usually because I was too caught up in the action to take photos, or didn't bring along my phone. Out of all our adventures this summer, though, I think this trip may have been my very favourite.

In late August, a group of us went on a wonderful canoe trip at Kejimakujik National Park. We spent three days canoeing in a loop, starting at Frozen Ocean Lake, and coming in to Jake's Landing through Kejimakujik lake on the third day. The weather was absolutely perfect for the whole tripvery warm and without a drop of rain. One of the highlights of the trip was definitely singing compline on the lake the first night, as we fought to keep our candles alight while drifting out across the lake under the stars. During the days, the water was perfect for swimming, and the loop took us through a few beautiful streams. Karis and I were pretty happy with the portaging skills we honed on that trip as well.
